IAPCO, the International Association of Professional Congress Organisers, has awarded Fiera Milano Congressi with the 2008 IAPCO National Supplier Award. The prize was presented by IAPCO chairman Patrizia Buongiorno to Giuseppe Zola, chairmain of Fiera Milano Congressi, at a ceremony held at Palazzo Visconti in Milan on 4 June 2009.
Fiera Milano Congressi, the company that manages the conference centres of the Milan Trade Fair, won the award for its key role in creating a system to promote the city on the European “conference capitals” circuit. The decision was made at the recent general meeting of IAPCO held in Ghent, Belgium.
“We chose to award Fiera Milano Congressi”, explains Patrizia Buongiorno, “because it brought together all the players (institutions, local government, industry associations) involved in staging a conference, creating valuable synergies to promote Milan as an international conference destination”.
“Fiera Milano Congressi is honoured by this important recognition” said Giuseppe Zola. “For years, we have been working towards becoming a single point of reference for conference, convention and event organisers, with an integrated service that satisfies not only demand for meeting spaces, but also hotel rooms, locations for gala evenings and the related activities in entertainment and tourism. The success of the recently-launched Destination Milan (www.destinationmilan.it) project, the Milan Ambassador Programme and the works to extend the Milan Convention Centre (MIC), which are now being started and which will give us one of Europe’s largest venues in 2011, are proof that we are moving in the right direction”.
