Italian hotel chain Starhotels has introduced a novel way of combining fitness and entertainment: in partnership with Nintendo, it is offering its guests a high-tech and completely virtual personal trainer, allowing them to train and ease the tensions of the day without leaving their rooms, using the Wii Fit and Wii Sports consoles provided in all Starhotels properties. This software provides a very realistic simulation of a doubles tennis match or a game of golf on the most prestigious greens, or it can take users through a series of yoga or aerobics exercises. They simply stand in front of the screen, use the Wii and the Wii balance board. This is a thin footboard on which users stand and which enables them to communicate with the console's movement sensor through wireless technology. With the magic board, users can engage in highly enjoyable physical activity and improve their muscle tone. They have two remote controls strapped to their wrists and can enjoy the realistic illusion of performing like champions.
