At the beginning of July, the first “Chef d’Hotel” awards were held in Rome. The event was promoted by hotelier association Confindustria Alberghi and AICA (the association of hotel chains) to celebrate excellence in Italian cuisine in the hotel sector. The award went to German chef Heinz Beck of the La Pergola restaurant of the Rome Cavalieri Hilton, which recently became part of the prestigious Waldorf=Astoria Collection®. Beck was recognised for his great reputation and for interpreting and “putting on the table” excellence in Italy’s hotel restaurant industry. The Rome Cavalieri Hilton was the first in Europe to become part of the Waldorf=Astoria Collection, the luxury brand of the Hilton Hotels Corporation. In the next few months, the hotel will upgrade some of its already exceptional facilities, with the opening of a third outdoor swimming pool with extensive space, and a new conference centre with independent entrance, which will be completed during the year.
