New wellness treatments at the Altafiumara Resort & Spa
The 5-star resort in the extreme south of Italy is extending its range of body massages, an excellent way to unwind after the meeting.

Spa treatments are being extended at the Altafiumara Resort & Spa, a resort situated in Villa San Giovanni near Reggio Calabria on the Costa Viola (Violet Coast), so called because of the special colours that the sea and sky take on at sunset.

“Since the beginning of 2008, the beauty farm Notos, set in a ten-hectare park, has been offering new treatments, adding to its already extensive range of programmes for guests wanting to unwind, get back into shape and fight the signs of aging, giving corporate clients the opportunity to enjoy a relaxing and regenerating atmosphere”, says head of sales Nino Aricò.

The new offer mainly concerns the body. The spa has introduced various types of massage, including ayurvedic, hot-stone treatments using hot volcanic stones, those using chocolate and one with grape seed oil, which has an anti-oxidant effect thanks to the polyphenol it contains.

“For meeting and incentive guests, we also propose the Luoghi del mito (Mythical Places) tour, which uncovers the history of the region, with a stop in Scilla, a fishing village known in classical mythology, and a visit to Reggio Calabria’s National Museum of Greater Greece , to admire the famous Bronzi di Riace (Riace bronzes) found in the sea”.

The resort, which commands a view of both the Strait of Messina and the nearby Aeolian Islands, comprises three buildings: the 5-star Castello, an old 18th-century Bourbon fortress that has been carefully restored; the 5-star Sporting with a soft-water pool and a cliff-top putting green; and the 4-star Isole, overlooking a small lake shaded by palm trees. “The conference centre, consisting of 10 rooms, the largest of which has a capacity of 350 seats, is technologically cutting-edge. Another jewel in our crown is the Accademia del Vino, a wine bar set in the dungeons of the fortress, with 8,000 bottles and more than 450 labels. We use it as a setting for themed evenings, to explore the latest trends in the wine market”.
