Training courses for doctors in the multi-purpose space located in Parma’s Barilla Center are being turned into gastronomic events focused on healthy ingredients
 
Academia Barilla is becoming a growing source of customized events conceived tailored to the pharmaceutical sector. The venue is a multipurpose space, located within the Barilla Center in the heart of Parma, and is dedicated to Italian gastronomy. Academia Barilla has been chosen as the venue for training courses sponsored by a major international pharmaceutical company, held by cardiologists, and aimed at doctors.
“From March to December 2008, for 12 weekends, we are making our spaces available to a group of 30-50 doctors”, explains Lucien Ducrey, Sales & Marketing Services Manager. “On Saturday, when the actual course takes place, we organise the coffee breaks and the catering service, providing food that compliments the training being given. For example, if the issue of essential Omega 3 fatty acids is being discussed, we serve food rich in this element. On Sunday, participants put into practice what they have learnt during the theory lesson the day before. They are divided into groups and given professional chef uniforms. While being assisted by our executive chef, kitchen assistants and the course leader, the groups prepare an entire menu, from the hors d’oeuvre to the dessert, based on seasonal products and, in this case, the theme of the seminar held on the previous day. Naturally, the doctor-chefs then eat the lunch they have prepared".
This initiative includes luxury accommodation in the nearby 5-star Grand Hotel de la Ville, located in the same complex as Academia Barilla. “These courses are proving to be so successful that the company that commissioned them has signed up for another nine in 2009. We are assessing different formats to propose to other companies within this sector for next year".
