This 4-star hotel has 108 rooms, a restaurant serving traditional Bolognese cuisine and two meeting rooms with a total capacity of 300. It is housed in a former metal greenhouse originally used to grow snails.
The genesis of this hotel is rather unique, starting with environmental regulations that imposed specific low-carbon design solutions. The metallic structure of the former greenhouse was therefore incorporated in the new construction, softened by the use of bricks. The vegetation around it was an essential architectural element, both aesthetically and functionally, as the hanging garden prevents the building and the surrounding environment from overheating. The Relais Bellaria is three km from the centre of Bologna, and can easily be reached from its main motorway connections.
