For 2008, the Rome-based DMC has devised a new travel incentive programme: a tour taking in the cities that hosted the famous Italian artist
Rome DMC Bramante Events is marked by its constant search for new ideas to reveal undiscovered Italy to an international public. The company also operates as a PCO, and an inbound tour operator under the Bramante Travel brand.
Recently, it launched an all-new incentive programme, under the evocative title In fuga con Caravaggio (In flight with Caravaggio). “We organised it at the end of 2007 as a prize trip for a bank, and it was so successful that we decided to run it again this year, from April to September”, explains agency owner Giorgio Gerardi.
“The tour is designed for a maximum of 20 people, and runs over six nights. It includes stops in the main cities, where the famous Italian artist Michelangelo Merisi, known as Caravaggio, stayed during his flight from Rome in 1606, after he had been sentenced to death for murder”.
The itinerary takes in Rome, Naples and La Valletta on the island of Malta. Participants stay at the 4-star Hotel Ponte Sisto in Rome, a stone’s throw from the typical Trastevere quarter; in the luxury 5-star Grand Hotel Parker’s in Naples, a ten-minute walk from the central Piazza del Plebiscito; and in the 5-star Westin Dragonara Resort, located in the maritime enclave of St. Julian’s, north of La Valletta, in Malta.
“We provide exclusive private visits outside the normal opening hours, to museums and churches in these three cities, to see the artist’s most representative works”, Gerardi continues. “To cap it all, participants get the opportunity to sample typical dishes from Caravaggio’s time at dinner”.
