Italcongressi (Italian Association for International Congress Relations) and PCO Italia (Italian Professional Congress Organisers’ Association) have formed a single body called Italcongressi-PCO Italia, the National Association of Meetings Industry Companies, to represent operators in the sector under a single banner, and take on new challenges and opportunities.
The new association, operating from Rome and Milan, comprises around 150 companies and represents all the types of players involved in the meetings industry.
It is led by chairman Massimo Fabio, previously at the helm of Italcongressi, and deputy chairman Nino Leanza, former head of PCO Italia.
The two commented that: “the representation of sector companies in a single body and the adoption of common regulations are key to gaining greater credibility and recognition at institutional level. While maintaining links with the past and the traditions of the associations that formed it, the new body also has a new mission: to ensure that local and national governments understand that the meetings industry is a real revenue-generating business”.
