The large futuristic hotel, in a former industrial area, was inaugurated on 18 January with a gala dinner attended by over 700 guests. The complex will play a significant role in boosting Caserta's profile as a tourist and conference destination.
 
The Crowne Plaza Caserta has ambitions to become the town’s main square. It has just opened following ingenious architectural restoration work on a huge industrial area of the city, 25 km from Naples and famous for its Bourbon royal palace (Reggia di Caserta.
The hotel comprises four buildings, decorated in warm hues, surrounding a large central square of over 6,000 sqm. It is topped by a giant dome in steel and glass (more than 4,700 sqm), an architectural feature that is the only one of its kind in Italy.
This modern agora, split onto two levels connected by a wide staircase, offers the freedom of an open space with the comfort of an air-conditioned environment that can be used whatever the weather, thanks to glass made from a special crystal that filters the light in the most natural way.
Designed for interaction
With this space, home to the hotel’s reception, two bars, two restaurants (the largest of which has 1,000 covers), a fitness centre, shops, gardens and fountains, this 4-star superior hotel provides the town with a place to meet, shop, dine, do business and relax. The inaugural dinner was held in the vast lobby: the 700 guests included local politicians and people from the business world involved in the development of the area. The conference held for the occasion in the modern conference centre (800 seats in the main hall) was on the importance of urban regeneration projects such as this.
