In November, the Senso Room, the jewel in the crown of the Meliá Roma Aurelia Antica, received the prestigious Gold Key Award for Excellence in Hospitality Design at the International Hotel, Motel and Restaurant Show in New York. Every year, the accolade, the only such dedicated to hotel interior design, recognises excellence in eight different categories, including best guest room, suite, restaurant and spa.
The Senso Room was entered in the guest room category: the jury looked at more than 150 projects in 19 countries, and unanimously chose the Rome hotel, praising the innovative concept of a spa-suite that stimulates the senses.
In the Senso Room the sense of smell is excited by a diffuser that releases four different fragrances that can be combined according to taste; touch by the use of precious materials (teak parquet, rosewood furniture, glass tessera mosaics in the bathroom); sight by the hydromassage bath for two people, the latest-generation plasma tv, the English fireplace; and hearing by the cascade shower in the bathroom, which combines relaxing background music with chromotherapy.
