It has just opened a hotel in Parma, recently acquired another in Zanzibar, and is renovating a third in Assisi set to open in 2009. Its ambition is to open a further twenty properties in Italy over the next five years.

Standard system for hotel stars introduced in Italy
The government has just launched a measure to introduce a single standard of hotel classification across Italy. Up to now, the 21 individual regional authorities have had decision-making power regarding for assigning stars to hotels, with variations in regulations leading to differences in quality and confusion among users.

In July, the two agencies, based in Rome and Milan respectively, merged to form a single company, pooling their know-how, experience and knowledge of the country.
